Bunkbell

Help & Support

Bunkbell is a family alarm clock for iPhone and iPad. You set the kids' alarms. Their devices ring. Even in Silent mode or Focus. Use it for school-morning wake-ups and for the regular practices that never make it onto their own calendars.

Getting started

Set up your family

  1. On your phone, open Bunkbell and tap Create Family Account. Use an email and password only the parents know.
  2. Add a profile for each kid.
  3. On each kid's iPhone or iPad, install Bunkbell, tap I already have an account, and sign in with the same email and password.
  4. When it asks Who uses this iPhone?, pick that kid. Your own phone can be No one – just a remote.

Set an alarm

Tap Add Alarm, choose who it's for, the time, the days and a sound. It shows up on their device, usually within seconds. On the Family screen, Armed means their device has it and is ready to ring.

What "Waiting to sync" means

Their device hasn't confirmed the latest change yet. Usually it's off, asleep without a connection, or Bunkbell was force-quit. Opening Bunkbell on that device syncs it right away. If an alarm is coming up soon and a device hasn't confirmed, the profile screen warns you.

An alarm didn't ring

On the device that should have rung, open Bunkbell and go to This Device. Under Make sure alarms ring, anything marked Fix takes you straight to the right setting:

One more: don't swipe Bunkbell away in the app switcher. It can delay changes until the app is opened again. Alarms that were already set still ring.

Still stuck? Tap Sync now on This Device, then check the profile shows Armed on your phone.

Kid devices & the Parent PIN

Without Parent Controls, every device signed in to your family can change every alarm. Parent Controls lock your kids' devices so each one can only change its own alarms.

Turn it on

  1. On your phone, go to Settings → Parent Controls → Set Up Parent PIN and pick 4 digits.
  2. Turn on Kid device for each kid's iPhone and iPad. You can do this from your phone.

A kid device only shows the profile it rings for. Kids can add, change and turn off their own alarms and pick their own avatar. They can't see other profiles, change family settings or sign out.

Change something on a kid's device

On their device, go to Settings → Parent Unlock and enter the Parent PIN. Everything is unlocked until you leave the app, then it locks again by itself.

Forgot the PIN?

On the PIN screen, tap Forgot PIN?, enter your family account password, and choose a new PIN. Forgot the password too? Tap Forgot the password too? and we'll email you a reset link.

After 5 wrong PIN tries, the PIN is locked for 10 minutes.

Turn it off

Settings → Parent Controls → Turn Off Parent Controls (needs the PIN). Every device can change every alarm again.

Keep the family account password parents-only. Anyone who knows it can sign in as the family on any device.

Profiles & avatars

To change a profile's name or color, open it and tap Edit. To change the avatar, tap the avatar on the profile screen or in Edit. Choose from animals, sports and more, or keep the first letter of their name.

To delete a profile, go to Edit → Delete Profile. This removes its alarms and stops them ringing on that kid's devices.

To switch who a device rings for, go to This Device → Change who uses this iPhone on that device.

Purchase

Bunkbell is free for two profiles. One purchase, Bunkbell Family, unlocks up to ten – enough for every device in your family – and it works with Family Sharing. No subscription.

New phone, or reinstalled the app? Go to Settings → Restore Purchase.

Your account

To reset your password, tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen.

To delete your account, go to Settings → Delete Family Account. This permanently deletes your profiles, alarms and devices, and signs out every device. Your purchase stays with your Apple ID.
